How can I learn more about the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST)?
Additional information regarding the CLEP program and the DANTES test can be obtained on-line.

Which CLEP and DANTES exams does Baker University accept?

Not all CLEP and DANTES exams will count toward your Baker University degree. It is important to consult with your Academic Advisor before you register for your exam.

How do I get my exam approved?
In order to avoid possible disappointment resulting from taking the wrong exam, you are required to discuss your test selection with your Academic Advisor  prior to registering to take the exam. Not all CLEP and DANTES exams are suitable for everyone; your counselor will assist you with selecting the exam that is appropriate for your particular degree program.

How much does an exam cost?
Fees associated with CLEP and DANTES examinations include:
• Test Center Fee - $20.00 (must accompany your exam registration)
• CLEP Exam Fee - $65.00 (payable on the day of your exam) CLEP exam fees may be paid by personal check, money order or by JCB, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or VISA credit cards. If you are an active duty or reserve component military member, you may be eligible for the Department of Defense to pay your test fee. Contact us for details.
• DANTES Exam Fee - $70.00 (payable on the day of your exam) DANTES does not accept personal checks for fee payments. Fees may be paid by money order, MasterCard, VISA, or American Express credit cards
• Verification and Documentation Fee - $10.00 per credit. We will invoice you for any credits awarded through CLEP and DANTES testing.

How can I confirm that my exam is scheduled?
We will send a confirmation email to your Baker email account approximately two weeks before your exam date. You may also contact us at any time to confirm that your exam is scheduled.

How do I prepare for an exam?
While CLEP and DANTES do not release exam success rates, our students generally have a good success rate for their exams. We encourage you to prepare for your exam by using official exam preparation materials.

How do I reschedule an exam?
If you know that you are not ready to take an exam or need to reschedule an exam due to illness or work conflicts, please contact us at least twenty-four hours in advance of your scheduled exam date/time. If you don’t contact us and miss your scheduled exam, you will forfeit your original Test Center Fee (TCF). In this circumstance, we are required to collect an additional TCF before rescheduling your exam.

How and when are my exam results reported?
Since CLEP exams are computer-based, you will be given the results of the exam before leaving our PLA Center. DANTES exam results will be mailed to you approximately two to three weeks after your exam date.

May I retake an exam?
If you don’t achieve the minimum score needed to award credit, you may retake the same exam after 180 days. This waiting period was established by CLEP and DANTES and cannot be waived under any circumstances.

What are the deadlines if I need an examination to complete my degree?
If CLEP or DANTES examinations complete your degree requirements, the following deadlines apply.  In order for you to receive your diploma at spring commencement, we must receive your exam results and payment for credits by April 1st.  In order for you to receive your diploma at winter commencement, we must receive your exam results and payment for credits by November 1st.  We strongly advise that you schedule your exams well in advance of these dates in order to avoid possible delay and disappointment.
